Prasarana Malaysia Berhad submitted a comprehensive recovery action plan to the Transport Ministry following recent service disruptions on the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) line, one of Malaysia’s busiest rail networks. The plan outline aims at addressing both technical operations, and overall commuter experience, as part of efforts to restore confidence in the system.
Amir Hamdan, Group President and Chief Executive Officer said that the proposal was presented during a post-cabinet meeting and has since been accepted. He noted that the next phase will focus on execution, with the priority being minimize to future disruptions and improve service reliability.the initiative comes after concerns were raised over repeated technical issues affecting daily commuters along the line.
Speaking during a site visit at MRT Pasar Seni, where Amir monitored rail and bus operations while engaging with the staffs and passenger on duty, he has emphasized that transparency remains a key priority, highlighting Prasarana’s ongoing collaboration with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD). The agency is kept informed through a structured reporting system which includes updates within 24 hours, 7 days, and 21 days following any incident. The process ensures compliance with safety standards while allowing for continuous monitoring and improvements across operations.
The move follows instructions from Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who had called for a thorough investigations into the latest disruptions and required a clear recovery roadmap to prevent recurrence. This recovery plan now stands as a critical step towards strengthening Malaysia’s public transport system and rebuilding commuter itself.
