Three friends were indicted by the Magistrate’s Court here on Monday (18th January) with the murder of a man which took place at a forest in Tanjung Rambutan last month.
The men accused of committing such a gruesome act have been identified as Avinesh Sarma, 22, Lingeshwarran, 24 and P. Siva Raman, 33. They are all unemployed and nodded after the charge was read out to them by Magistrate Noor Azreen Liana Mohd Darus.
That being said, no plea has been recorded as the case falls within the jurisdiction of the High Court. The men had allegedly used a machete to commit murder on K. Arun, 35 in the forest near Sri Maha Muthu Mariamman Temple in Ladang Tanjung Rambutan between 7:40 pm and 8:45 pm on 31st December last year.
They purportedly committed the crime along with two other suspects still on the loose. The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.The intent of murder is unknown. More updates are to follow upon further investigation.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Fatimah Hannah Abd Wahab appeared before the prosecution, while the three suspects were represented by lawyers Syahrul Nizam Mohd Rabi and C. Kaladevi. The court fixed 18th March for mention, due to the pending submission of chemical and post-mortem reports.
