It has been a rollercoaster year for our talented Malaysian shuttler, S.Kisona. Battling with both her mental and physical health, our badminton prowess has come up with a decision that shook the entire nation.
Our National Women’s Single player, S. Kisona, made up her mind to leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) yesterday (19 December). According to reports, it is stated that the 24-year-old is currently focusing on recovery and requires a more flexible schedule.
During the press conference held by BAM yesterday, Kisona expressed she wanted to leave BAM to focus on the rehabilitation of her leg as she had an operation a year ago. “As for now, the injury is considered minor and can recur in weeks’ time. If the recovery is quick, I can return to the tournament and focus on training for the Paris Olympics 2024,” she remarked.

“The first tournament is not known yet, there will be plans.” – Kisona
BAM coach, Director Wong Choong Hann said the coaching staff and BAM had a discussion meeting with Kisona upon her decision to leave BAM. “Her injury has not only posed a major challenge to her badminton career but also affected her mental health emotionally. Kisona has been facing cyberbullying on social media”, added Choong Hann.
The 11 years senior squad of BAM, Kisona said she will return and start playing as a shuttler once she recovers from her injuries.
Kisona shared her gratitude in her recent post on Instagram and thanked her family, coaches, and Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, Dato Kenny Goh and Dr. Tim.
