The renowned Tamil Language Society of University Malaysia is currently organizing its 38th ‘Peravai Kathaigal’ competition, which runs until July 26th. This prestigious short story competition welcomes Tamil enthusiasts worldwide to participate, aiming to foster literary talent and celebrate the richness of Tamil literature.
With a history spanning 37 years, the competition has seen growing participation from university students, the general public, and international participants. In 2019, the competition achieved recognition in the ‘Malaysian Book of Records for showcasing 640 short stories.
The competition features three categories: the General Category, open to Malaysians of all ages; the Student Category, open to students from Form 4 to university level; and the International Category, open to non-Malaysians of all ages. Prizes await the winners in each category, continuing the tradition of seeking compelling stories.
Participants are required to submit their short stories in PDF and Word Doc format via email to 38thperavaikathaigal@gmail.com. It is recommended that writers register in advance by completing the Google Form before sending their stories.
