Anything is achievable if you have the passion and the will to succeed.
Ever since diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) a decade ago, the 21-year-old young lad has accomplished a number of amazing pursuits.
Thasraveen, who is also a talented and skilled artist, joined hands with local fashion designer Jayk Fashion for the occasion and three of his amazing artwork have been featured in the show.

Thasraveen’s mother is the one who discovered his artistic gift when he was in Form Three. As a result, his paintings have been exhibited at the ABLE Art Exhibition at University Malaya (2018), Kota Kinabalu Fashion Week (2019), and Brisbane’s Percolator Gallery’s Beautiful Malaysia Art Exhibition (2020).
“It gives me great pleasure to know that my work has been featured in a fashion show and I’ll keep working harder to come up with more unique and creative designs,” Thasraveen said after the fashion show, which also exhibited artwork by seven individuals with autism.
During his leisure time, Thasraveen also gives free artwork lessons to children with autism from the B40 neighbourhood.
“I feel motivated and I’m proud of my accomplishments. People appear to like my work, which makes me satisfied,” he remarked.
He who hails from an Indian and Bidayuh parentage said “I’m incredibly lucky that my parents have been very encouraging and I’m always happy when people buy my works,” he added.
The young man, who is now pursuing a diploma in logistics management at a private institution in Kuala Lumpur is also a part-time model and aspiring actor in addition to painting.
The Miri native has dabbled in acting with a few minor roles in Malay dramas, including; Biar Mereka Cemburu, Kain Kapan Berbisik, and Shah Alam 40K, as well as on-line advertisements.
Last year, Thasraveen clinched the Inspiring Model award at Double Event Management’s ‘I AM Model Search’ competition.
Thasraveen’s mother Rani Narayasamy expressed “Raising Thasraveen has been a journey filled with many hardships. My spouse and I, on the other hand, have never given up. In fact, we’ve always gone above and beyond to assist him in achieving his dreams.”
“Parents of special-needs children should find methods to expose them to a variety of areas, whether it’s acting, crafts, modelling, or whatever else they’re interested in,” she advised.
“If your child has special requirements, don’t be embarrassed. Rather, be proud of their abilities. And you must be willing to do a lot of research and put in a lot of effort to assist them in doing amazing things,” the homemaker remarked.
Rani believes it is essential for parents of special needs children to develop their children’s interests and work toward maximizing their talents.
