Teachers should be recognised for their unwavering commitment to their student’s education, particularly throughout the lockdown period as they were the individuals responsible for shaping each of them into successful people today.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a shift of the way in which a normal classroom lesson is conducted, hence there has been a significant change in the education line, with the full utilisation of the internet. Today, we salute these dedicated educators who have overcome major hurdles and continue to provide a balanced and wholesome education for their students.

Recently, Premalatha Selvaraj, a teacher from a rural primary school here, was just named the sole Malaysian winner of the Google Innovator Academy’s certified coaching award.
This 37-year-old mathematics and information and communications technology (ICT) teacher currently teaches at SJK(T) Ladang Krian which consist of 250 pupils.
Her undying enthusiasm for teaching proven when she started offering workshops on the usage’s of Google’s teaching tools for students nationwide.
The programme is part of Malaysia’s Digital Educational Learning Initiative, which is in line with the ministry’s Digital Certification Training Program, approved by the Education Ministry.

“My purpose is to demonstrate how individuals may take advantage from using digital technologies in teaching and making classrooms more interesting and engaging,” said Premalatha, who has been teaching at SJK(T) Ladang Krian for 11 years.
In 2015, she received the Google Innovator Academy credential, which was the first step in learning how to utilise digital technologies.
Premalatha started to develop new teaching programmes at her school and led workshops for a variety of schools, including national-type and Chinese vernacular schools.
Her school’s success in competitions such as robotics, ICT, science and technology, engineering, and mathematics has been aided by the use of digital tools.
From 2015 to last year, she conducted around 130 workshops.
She was not the only Malaysian winner but also one of 11 winners from the Asia-Pacific region.
She stated that she hopes to train Malaysian teachers, share her expertise as an innovator, and get at least 50 applications for certification from Malaysia.
We want to see many Malaysian teachers recognised and appreciated for their tireless effort, dedication and unflinching commitment in helping our children develop and flourish in the future.
Congratulations Premalatha and thank you for making our country proud.
