Supermarkets Jaya Grocer and Mydin have set aside an extra thirty minutes before starting operations for the elderly and differently-abled. This is in light of the Movement Control Order implemented by the Malaysian government starting today.

Over the past few days, social media has been laden with images of people panic buying and hoarding, in spite of numerous pleas not to do so.

Jaya Grocer announced that participating outlets would open from 9.30am to 10am for elderly customers (meaning those aged 60 and above) and their caretakers.

Mydin, on the other hand, said that they would open their stores 30 minutes earlier to allow for the elderly and the disabled to shop.
