Vaccination-related news, trolls, and memes are proliferating on a daily basis, causing commotions and spreading false information. Not only that, but many people have yet to register for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Hence, the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) is stepping up efforts to disseminate information about vaccination registrations, particularly in rural areas.
Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Communications and Multimedia, stated that they would also focus on groups such as the elderly and people with disabilities, who are reportedly less competent in online registration methods.
“Based on an analysis by the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), vaccination registrations are still low, especially in the east coast and among rural communities, the elderly, Orang Asli and PwD.”
During an interview with RTM which was broadcasted on Berita Perdana last night, he said;
“By taking into consideration the registration issue, the ministry through the Information Department (JAPEN) is gearing up more information and promotion sessions for the public to come forward and register.”
According to him, from 30th March to yesterday (27th May), 24,664 COVID-19 vaccination registrations were successfully completed through the ministry’s Info on Wheels (IOW) program.
This would undoubtedly be a fantastic move to raise awareness and provide accurate information to netizens about the country’s vaccination programme.
According to the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in a Bernama report stated that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be reintroduced into the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme mainstream vaccine list as a result of the public’s positive response to the vaccine.
