Two young brothers have become one of the earliest children to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine jab as part of a mass vaccination program.
Yes, sounds amazing, isn’t it!
Shivvaen, 10 and his younger brother G. Dhanvinn, 5, received their vaccinations on the first day of the COVID-19 vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 at the state Health Department clinic in Jalan Residensi.
“I feel a bit weak in my arm but it’s perfectly fine. It didn’t hurt at all. I’m happy to be vaccinated. Now I can go to school and go out while adhering to the SOP’s,” Shivvaen said.
Accompanied by their mother M. Malini, who is a paediatrician, stated that it was the boy’s decision to be vaccinated and she urged everyone to register their children for vaccines.
“Shivvaen has been asking to be vaccinated as he believes it would make him safer and allow him to do regular things such as having normal interactions with his peers,” she explained.
Meanwhile Shivvaen said; “Let’s get vaccinated so that we can have gatherings and resume lives as normal.”
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had earlier stated that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was the only dose recommended for children in that age group. He also stated that the government will purchase COVID-19 therapeutic alternatives in order to bring the country nearer to endemicity.
