Suriya will be taking on a role like never before in his upcoming film Kaappaan. The teaser of the film, released yesterday, suggests that the actor will play a terrorist.

Directed by KV Anand, Kaappaan features an ensemble cast comprising of Suriya, Mohanlal, Arya, Sayyeshaa, Samuthirakani and Boman Irani.

The teaser appears to hold its ground with plenty of controversial dialogue, including Suriya being likened to a Naxal (communist) at the very end. The action packed scenes look believable, which is a refreshing change for a Suriya movie.

The teaser however, does have its pitfalls. Mohanlal refers to Suriya as a sleeping tiger who has been awakened, and there’s also a pathetic snippet where Arya proposes to Sayyeshaa, his wife in real life.

All in all, Kaappaan looks to be an entertainer, where the focus might actually be on the story, and not on Suriya. The film is set to hit the screens in August.
