Netflix revealed its much-anticipated Tamil film lineup for 2025, marking an exciting milestone for regional content on the platform. This announcement, aptly named ‘Netflix Pandigai,’ coincides with the celebrations of the Pongal festival.
The nine-film lineup features a mix of highly anticipated major projects starring stars like Ajith and Suriya, alongside promising films from emerging talents such as Pradeep Ranganathan.
Vidaamuyarchi
The highly anticipated film by Ajith Kumar and director Magizh Thirumeni, originally slated for a Pongal theatrical release, has been rescheduled and will now premiere on February 6th. This intense action thriller follows the story of a family vacation that takes a perilous turn into a nightmare. In addition to its Tamil release, the film will also be available in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The star-studded cast includes Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Arjun, and Regina Cassandra.

Dragon
Dragon marks the second directorial venture of Ashwath Marimuthu, following the success of his debut film Oh My Kadavule. Teaming up with Pradeep Ranganathan, who recently delivered a hit with Love Today, the film promises to be a delightful entertainer packed with romance and humor. Originally set for release on February 14th, the date was shifted to February 21st to accommodate the release of Vidaamuyarchi on February 6th. Along with its Tamil version, the film will be available in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The cast includes Pradeep Ranganathan, Kayadu Lohar, Anupama Parameswaran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Mysskin.

Good Bad Ugly
Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran and featuring Ajith Kumar in a variety of experimental looks, has already captured the audience’s attention with its intriguing style. Known for his unique storytelling, Adhik brings his signature eccentric flair to this action-packed film. The movie promises a thrilling experience filled with unconventional elements and will be released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Yogi Babu, and Arjun Das in pivotal roles.

Retro
Touted as an action-adventure, the film marks the first collaboration between acclaimed director Karthik Subbaraj and superstar Suriya. The recently released teaser hints at a gripping storyline, with Suriya portraying a character haunted by a dark past that threatens to catch up with him. In addition to its Tamil release, the film will also be available in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Featuring a stellar cast that includes Suriya, Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Nasser, and Prakash Raj, the movie is set to hit screens on May 1st.

Thug Life
Nearly four decades after the iconic gangster drama Nayakan, legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam and veteran actor Kamal Haasan reunite for the highly anticipated gangster action film Thug Life. The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, including Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Ashok Selvan, Trisha Krishnan, Pankaj Tripathi, Joju George, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Nassar. Fans are eagerly awaiting the on-screen collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan, which has already generated immense excitement. In addition to its Tamil release, the film will be available in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The filmmakers have confirmed a June release this year.

Bison
Marking the first-ever collaboration between Dhruv Vikram and director Mari Selvaraj, this upcoming film is a sports drama centered around the game of Kabaddi. While speculation suggests that the story is inspired by the life of Arjuna Award winner Manathi Ganesan, the filmmakers have not officially confirmed this. The movie will also stream on Netflix following its theatrical release and will be available in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The cast features Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran in pivotal roles.

Perusu
The newly announced comedy entertainer Perusu, directed by Ilango Ram, is an official remake of the Sinhalese film Tentigo. Ilango Ram, who directed the original, will also helm this adaptation. The story follows two brothers who find themselves in a series of hilarious and awkward situations after discovering an unusual condition involving their deceased father. In addition to its Tamil release, the film will be available in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The cast includes Vaibhav, Sunil, Niharika NM, and Redin Kingsley.

Kaantha
Dulquer Salmaan, fresh off the success of his Diwali blockbuster Lucky Baskhar, is set to star in yet another period drama with Kaantha, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. Set in 1950s Chennai, the film promises an immersive narrative rooted in the era’s rich cultural and social backdrop. In addition to its theatrical release, the movie will have a multilingual OTT launch, including Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam versions. The cast features Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashri Borse in key roles.

Pradeep Ranganathan’s Upcoming Film
The upcoming, yet-to-be-titled film brings together Pradeep Ranganathan and debutant director Keerthiswaran, who previously worked as an assistant director under Sudha Kongara in Soorarai Pottru and her segments in Paava Kadhaigal and Putham Pudhu Kaalai.
