US Swimming Team Dazzles with Performance on AR Rahman’s “Taal Se Taal” at World Aquatics Doha 2024

The World Aquatics Doha 2024 witnessed a mesmerizing performance by the USA’s women’s artistic swimming team as they gracefully executed their underwater choreography to the iconic song “Taal Se Taal” from the 1999 Bollywood film Taal. The song, composed by the legendary AR Rahman and written by Anand Bakshi, features the enchanting vocals of Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan.

The performance, which took place a month ago, has been making waves on social media, garnering widespread praise and admiration. Director Subhash Ghai, who helmed the film Taal, couldn’t contain his joy at seeing the song’s international recognition. He shared his heartfelt gratitude on social media, stating how rare and special it is for Hindi film music to achieve such iconic status. His post resonated with many, drawing attention to the cultural crossover and the impact of Bollywood music beyond Indian border.

The video shows the US team performing a synchronized routine to the opening music of “Taal Se Taal Mila,” beautifully capturing the essence of the song. The song’s original performance by Aishwarya Rai in the film is iconic, and this underwater rendition added a new dimension to its legacy.
