The landslides that devastated Wayanad on July 30 was devastating, especially near Chooralmala and Mundakkai. The disaster has left a trail of devastation, with over 300 people killed and more others missing. A large-scale search operation is ongoing, involving survivors, victims’ relatives, and other rescue teams.
The Indian Army, after completing a ten-day-long rescue operation in the affected regions, is set to hand over the ongoing operations to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Fire Force, and Kerala Police. Despite the Army’s departure, a maintenance team for the Bailey Bridge—temporarily constructed by the Army will remain in the area to assist with ongoing efforts.
Meanwhile, Indian Air Force helicopters continue to play a crucial role in the search and rescue operations, airlifting over 700 kg of relief materials, civilians, and Special Operations Group teams since the disaster struck.
Harini’s dedication to using her talent for the greater good serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration during these challenging times, reminding us all of the power of empathy and actions.
