The release of Dulquer Salmaan’s much-anticipated film, Lucky Baskhar, is expected to be postponed yet again. Initially slated for 7th September 2024, reports suggest that the release date might be shifted to avoid a clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming The Greatest Of All Time, popularly known as The GOAT, which is set to release on 5th September 2024.
Lucky Baskhar, directed by Vaathi fame Venky Atluri, has already seen multiple changes in its release schedule. The film was originally set to hit theaters on 27th September 2024, but the makers advanced the date to 7 September to steer clear of competition with Jr NTR’s Devara Part 1. Now, with the impending release of Vijay’s highly awaited The GOAT, it appears that the film might be rescheduled once more.
The decision to potentially postpone Lucky Baskhar reflects the high stakes involved in the Indian film industry, where release dates are strategically planned to maximize box office potential. Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT, a sci-fi spy thriller, has already generated significant buzz with its trailer. In the film, Vijay plays dual roles as a father and son, with his character Gandhi, a former member of the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS), returning to action after years of retirement. The film’s use of de-aging technology to portray Vijay as a younger version of himself has also captured the audience’s attention.
In contrast, Lucky Baskhar is a financial thriller set in the 1980s, where Dulquer Salmaan plays the titular role of a banker who mysteriously becomes wealthy. The film’s intriguing plot and retro setting, coupled with Dulquer’s performance, have already garnered attention. The film also stars Meenakshi Chaudhary as Dulquer’s wife, with Ayesha Khan, Hyper Aadi, and P. Sai Kumar in key roles. The movie’s soundtrack, composed by GV Prakash Kumar, has also been well received, with the theme song becoming particularly popular.
Despite the mounting anticipation, the makers of Lucky Baskhar have remained silent about the possible postponement, leading to speculation among fans and industry insiders. With just a few weeks left before the original release date, an official confirmation is still awaited.
Lucky Baskhar is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments, Srikara Studios, and Fortune Four Studios. Although primarily a Telugu production, the film is set for a multi-lingual release in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi, making it a highly anticipated release across various regions.
As the industry awaits the final word from the makers, the potential rescheduling of Lucky Baskhar could strategically position the film to avoid direct competition with The GOAT, thereby maximizing its box office success.
