Director Mari Selvaraj’s latest release, ‘Vaazhai’, garnered positive reviews upon its debut. The rural drama continued to perform well at the box office, ultimately grossing close to Rs 20 crore, making it a highly profitable venture. In light of the film’s success, the team behind ‘Vaazhai’ held a celebratory event, where they engaged with the media and shared their joy and gratitude for the film’s achievement.
During the media interaction, Mari Selvaraj confirmed his plans for a sequel to ‘Vaazhai’. He assured that ‘Vaazhai 2’ will definitely happen and revealed that the story will revolve around the character Sivanaindha. According to the director, there is another powerful narrative connected to ‘Vaazhai’ that will give audiences a deeper understanding of his vision. He also mentioned that he has many more stories to tell and promised to captivate viewers further with his upcoming projects.
Nikhila Vimal, who portrayed a key role as a teacher in ‘Vaazhai’, spoke warmly about her character in Mari Selvaraj’s film, sharing how much she enjoyed playing Poonkodi teacher, even more than her role as Alagiya Laila in ‘Gurvayoor Ambalanadaiyil’. She expressed her happiness in being part of ‘Vaazhai’, which is loosely inspired by Mari Selvaraj’s own life story, and praised the director’s dedication to the project. As a token of appreciation, the makers of ‘Vaazhai’ gifted the cast and crew a framed photo, allowing them to carry lasting memories of the film.
