The Penang State Indian Film Association, in collaboration with Dream Sky Home Productions and the Kedah State Kabaddi Association, successfully hosted the 2024 National Level Interstate Kabaddi Tournament for both men and women Under-21 categories. This exciting event took place at Minterk Hall in Sungai Petani, Kedah, on October 5th, from 7am to 7pm.
Nearly 200 athletes from 12 teams participated in the competition, marking the first event of its kind ever organized in Kedah. The Kedah team emerged as champions in the men’s category, while the Wilayah Persekutuan team claimed victory in the women’s category at the Under-21 National Interstate Kabaddi Tournament. Meanwhile, the Wilayah Persekutuan team secured second place, with Penang and Melaka sharing third place in the men’s category.
In the women’s category, the Wilayah Persekutuan team triumphed and was crowned champions, delivering an impressive performance throughout the tournament. Negeri Sembilan claimed second place with a strong showing, while Kedah and Kelantan both secured third place.
Deputy Minister of National Unity, Senator Saraswathy Kandasami, graciously presented the prizes to the winners, acknowledging their hard work and dedication throughout the tournament. In addition, Sadasivam, the President of the Kedah Kabaddi Association, emphasized that the tournament not only encouraged community involvement and support for the development of kabaddi at all levels but also helped cultivate a sports culture among the people.
The commitment and spirit of the participants contributed to the tournament’s success, fostering a sense of community and enthusiasm for the sport. Through intense competition, the players showcased their high levels of skill and delivered thrilling action throughout the event. Ultimately, the tournament served as an excellent platform to highlight the talents of local kabaddi players, providing an exhilarating experience for the audience.
