The independent band Staccato, led by Gowtham Bharadwaj, has been making waves on YouTube for the better half of a decade. In conjunction with the late MS Viswanathan’s 93rd birthday, the band released a beautiful medley of the music director’s tunes.
Not many know that MSV actually intended to become an actor, and he travelled from Pallakad to Chennai for this very reason. Music, however, chose him. Eminent composers like Illayaraaja and AR Rahman have admitted that MSV has inspired their music in many ways.
Staccato first made waves on YouTube with their tribute to K Balachander 4 years ago. The talented band is back with a few brilliant additions, and have done a medley of 3 MSV tunes – Enna Enna Vaarthaigalo, Anbulla Maanvizhiye and Andru Vanthathu.
MSV may not be with us anymore, but his music will live on for generations to come. Happy birthday, Mellisai Mannar. Thank you for this delightful tribute, Staccato.
