Read moreSeveral popular beaches in Pahang, including Pantai Teluk Chempedak, Cherating, Sepat, Batu Hitam, as well as Pantai Lagenda in Pekan and Pantai Hiburan in Rompin, have been red-flagged due to dangerous conditions such as turbulent seas and strong waves.
These beaches are not safe for swimming, and visitors are urged to stay out of the water.
Colonel Che Adam A. Rahman, the director of the Pahang Civil Defence Force, has advised parents to closely supervise their children if they visit beaches during the school and Christmas holidays, emphasizing the risks posed by huge waves and strong winds.
He reminded that the northeast monsoon is not over, so caution is necessary.
In light of these conditions, Che Adam recommended checking the weather forecast from the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) before heading out.
Lifeguards will be stationed at popular beaches on weekends and during school holidays to ensure safety. He also added that the Civil Defence Force personnel will be equipped with jet skis and boats to respond in case of emergencies.
They are also trained in first aid and CPR, ensuring they can assist in critical situations.
Earlier today MetMalaysia has issued a warning for rising sea levels, strong winds, and thunderstorms in several states, including Pahang, until December 24.
It’s vital for the public to follow safety instructions from lifeguards and avoid taking unnecessary risks during these hazardous conditions.
