Beginning January 1, 2025, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will implement a RM1 fare per trip for non-Malaysian citizens using the GoKL bus service on specific routes. This charge will apply to the Orange Line (Titiwangsa to MINDEF), Pink Line (Universiti LRT to PPR Seri Pantai), and Mango Red Line (KTM/MRT Kampung Batu to Chow Kit).
This decision follows the earlier introduction of a RM1 fare for non-Malaysian passengers on four other GoKL bus routes:
- Green Line (KLCC to Bukit Bintang)
- Purple Line (KLCC to Bukit Bintang)
- Red Line (Titiwangsa Hub to KL Sentral)
- Blue Line (Titiwangsa Hub to KL Sentral)
In a statement, DBKL clarified that payments are entirely cashless and can be made using Touch ‘n Go, QR codes, or credit and debit cards.
Malaysians can enjoy free rides on GoKL buses, but they must use their MyKad for verification.
Citizens whose MyKad is damaged or lacks the Touch ‘n Go feature will need to renew their cards at the National Registration Department (JPN) before registering for free rides. To prevent any deductions from their card balance, MyKad holders must complete the registration or verification process.
Children aged 12 and under are exempt from registration and can ride the buses for free, regardless of their nationality.
Those who have not registered their MyKad for free rides on the GoKL bus service can complete the process at the following locations:
- Hentian Akhir Titiwangsa
- Universiti LRT Station (East)
- Hentian One Maxim
Time: 7am to 12pm and 2pm to 7pm (Daily)
In addition, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has set up a registration counter on the 8th floor of Jabatan Pengangkutan Bandar (Menara DBKL 2). The counter operates daily from: 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.
Through these measures, DBKL seeks to improve public transportation accessibility while ensuring fairness and efficiency for both Malaysian citizens and non-citizens.
