SJKT Gopeng, Perak is set to work on a much needed upgrade with construction for a new school building scheduled to begin in January 2026. The announcement was made by Gopeng MP Tan Kar Hing during the school’s Pongal celebration which he attended.

SJKT Gopeng is a 55 years old school and has over 170 students in it. Throughout the years, the school has faced structural challenges. The current building of the school is said to be unsafe due to termite damage, making it risky for the students and staff.
After seeking ways to rebuild the school, the decision for a new building has been approved by the government and educational departments with blueprints and funding currently being in talks for finalization.MP Tan Kar Hing is assured that all preparations are underway to ensure a smooth start for the construction next year.

This announcement was made during the Pongal Celebration held by the school. The event featured many activities including Kolam Competition, Coloring Contest, Flower Tying, Traditional Dance such as Bhararanatyam and Sillambam. The celebration and activities were concluded with a prize giving ceremony for the participating students adding a joyous touch to the event. The well organized event was not only to celebrate our culture but to share the exciting news about the Tamil School’s future.
With construction planned to start in 2026, the new building promises to keep the Childrens safe, with better facilities that will support their education as well as development. It marks a brighter future for the next generation who joins the school.
