Yesterday, Sivakarthikeyan’s most awaited upcoming project ‘Parasakthi’ teaser was unveiled. Directed by Sudha Kongara, Produced by Dawn Pictures, the film is a real life story starring Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela. The teaser and title announcement built excitement as the fans are waiting to watch all of them on one screen. While the fans were thrilled about the film, Vijay Antony has made a post claiming rights over the same title, sparking a debate over ownership.
The claim Vijay Antony had in his official statement was that his production house had registered the title ‘Paraashakthi’ in Telugu with South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) nearly six months ago. He further made a post on the poster of his film, revealing that its Tamil title is ‘Sakti Thirumagan ‘and the Telugu title is ‘Paraashakthi’.
Dawn Pictures then responded swiftly with documentation from the Tamil and Telugu producer council, confirming that they hold the rights to ‘Parasakthi’ in both languages. Adding a new controversy, AVM Productions who produced the iconic 1952 Parasakti film starring Sivaji Ganesan issued a statement, showing support for Sivakarthikeyan’s film. They stated that the title’s legacy is being passed to a new project and congratulated the entire team. (Dawn Pictures Respond)
It is usually common in the Tamil Film industry to have classic titles, and this has brought attention to title registration regulations. While both the films have slightly different spellings, the clash has created a confusion among the cinema enthusiast. If Vijay Antony’s claim is made to SIFCC, there’s a possibility that Sivakarthikeyan’s team may have to consider a title change.
As the issue is going on, Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi marks as his 25th film and has created excitement after his massive hit Amaran as this film has a promising cast and director. With Ravi Mohan having a different look of character, Atharvaa and Telugu actress Sreeleela in her Tamil debut, fans are waiting to watch the film.

Meanwhile, Vijay Antony’s film directed by Arun Prabhu, is reportedly in its final post production stage and is expected to be released in a few languages.
With both sides firm on their stance, it remains whether the title controversy will have a resolution or be brought further. Regardless of the outcome, the audience are eagerly waiting for both films.
