On Tuesday, the grand audio launch of Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK), the third directorial venture of Dhanush, took place in Chennai. The event was attended by the film’s cast and crew, along with several notable guests, including actor SJ Suryah and directors Rajkumar Periasamy and Tamilarasan Pachamathu. Among the well-wishers present was Arun Vijay, who is currently collaborating with Dhanush on his upcoming directorial project, Idly Kadai. Speaking at the event, he praised Dhanush for his exceptional ability to juggle multiple roles effortlessly.
Reflecting on NEEK, Arun Vijay shared, “While I was filming for Idly Kadai, Dhanush showed me the trailer of NEEK. Even then, I told him that this film would undoubtedly resonate with the youth. And as expected, now that the trailer is out, everyone is talking about it.”
Arun Vijay went on to praise Dhanush as a true multi-tasker, sharing his firsthand experience of the actor’s remarkable work ethic.
“I have witnessed it myself—he would finish a shot and immediately start working on a script. When I asked him what he was doing, he casually replied, ‘Just writing a script.’ One day, I unexpectedly saw music director G.V. Prakash in his caravan, and to my surprise, Dhanush was recording a song composed by him. A music recording session was happening right there! His dedication and passion for his craft are truly inspiring. He often tells me that I am inspiring, but in reality, it is he who inspires me.”
Arun Vijay then spoke about the many facets of Dhanush’s talent. “After watching Raayan, I was eager to work under Dhanush’s direction, and by God’s grace, that wish has come true with Idly Kadai. Dhanush is not only an exceptional director but also a wonderful human being. He possesses incredible depth and maturity as a filmmaker, and witnessing both sides of him has been truly remarkable,” he shared.
Addressing Dhanush’s absence at the audio launch of his film, Arun Vijay explained that while Dhanush couldn’t attend due to his ongoing shoot, his heart was undoubtedly with them.
“I have no doubt that NEEK will make a lasting impact. Dhanush is filming a song today, and until last night, I was busy shooting as well. While I was able to be here for this event, he is now back on set working on his portions. But I know for certain that his heart is right here with us,” he said.
NEEK features Pavish, Priya P Varrier, Anikha Surendran, Mathew Thomas, Siddharth Shankar, and Rabiya Khatoon in lead roles, with Venkatesh Menon and Ramya Ranganathan playing supporting characters. Additionally, Priyanka Mohan and Dhanush will make special appearances in the songs Golden Sparrow and Kadhal-Fail.
This upcoming coming-of-age romantic drama is jointly produced by Dhanush, Kasthuri Raja, and Vijayalakshmi Kasthuri under Wunderbar Films and RK Productions. The film boasts Leon Britto as the cinematographer, Prasanna GK as the editor, and GV Prakash as the music composer.
NEEK is set to release in theatres on February 21, where it will clash with Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon at the box office.
Meanwhile, Idly Kadai features Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Rajkiran, and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles. Details regarding the extended cast and storyline remain under wraps. The film is a joint venture between Dawn Pictures, Red Giant Movies, and Wunderbar Films, with Aakash Baskaran and Dhanush serving as producers, while Sreyas Srinivasan takes on the role of executive producer. On the technical front, Idly Kadai boasts GV Prakash as the music composer, Kiran Koushik as the cinematographer, Prasanna GK as the editor, and Jacki as the production designer.
Idly Kadai is set to hit theaters on April 10, 2025, coinciding with the release of Ajith Kumar’s much-anticipated film, Good Bad Ugly.
