Legendary music composer IIlaiyaraaja has announced his formation of a girls orchestra in honor of his late daughter, Bhvatharini, to fulfil her last wishes. The announcement was made during an event remembering Bhavatharini’s birthday. IIaiyaraja shared that his daughter had always expressed her desire to start an orchestra before her passing last year. Inspired by this he decided to create a platform that would celebrate her memory through music.
Recalling a recent experience in the Raaja Rhapsody press conference Malaysia, IIlaiyaraaja mentioned he witnessed performances by several groups of girls which reminded him of Bhavatharini’s wish. This made him take the decision to establish an orchestra exclusively for young female musicians.

“Bhavatharini’s last wish was to start a girls orchestra. Two days ago when I was in Malaysia, several girl groups sang in front of me. When I saw it, I remembered what my daughter Bhavatharini had told me”. Said IIlaiyaraaja.
The orchestra will be composed of female students both from schools and colleges aged 15 and below. Selection will be made by IIlaiyaraaja himself. He also revealed that he has already selected two orchestras in Malaysia and emphasized that girls from all over the world can be a part of this orchestra.
With this, he aims to create a musical legacy that will continue for generations, there will be auditions and talented ones will be selected. When the time is right, he revealed that the announcement will be made with further details.
Bhavatharini, known for her melodious voice and soft nature, was the only daughter of IIlaiyaraaja. She has won the National Award for her song “Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu” from the film Bharathi. Apart from being a playback singer, she has also worked as a music director and has done music for three films. Through this orchestra decision made by IIaiyaraaja, her musical aspiration will live on, inspiring young talents across the world.
