Ashwath Marimuthu’s highly anticipated second directorial venture, Dragon, is set to hit theaters on February 21. The filmmaker, who made a remarkable debut with Oh My Kadavule, promises that his upcoming project will be just as impactful and meaningful as his first.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu reveals that Dragon‘s protagonist, played by Pradeep Ranganathan, is a flawed character who undergoes significant transformation over time. Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram’s AGS Entertainment, with Archana Kalpathi serving as the creative producer, the film delves into this evolution. “It’s a family drama about a man who is a superstar in college but struggles to find his footing in real life,” Ashwath shares.
Ashwath Marimuthu assures that Dragon will appeal to fans of both Oh My Kadavule and Pradeep Ranganathan’s previous film, Love Today. “Both movies shared similar storytelling elements and conveyed meaningful messages. Dragon will follow the same path,” he explains. He further adds, “I have crafted this film as a perfect blend of both, ensuring it resonates with audiences who enjoyed Oh My Kadavule and Love Today. It has been made with a lot of heart.”

Speaking about his experience working with the Love Today actor, Ashwath says, “Though we have been friends for a long time, I was always mindful that I was collaborating with a professional actor who commands a significant market presence.”
Mysskin takes on the role of a college principal, serving as the film’s antagonist. “He portrays a deeply principled man, making Dragon a story that explores the dynamic between a flawed protagonist and a morally upright villain,” Ashwath explains.
Meanwhile, Sneha makes a special appearance, portraying a character with an angelic presence, adding depth to the film’s narrative. Additionally, renowned filmmaker and actor Gautham Vasudev Menon plays a pivotal role as the vice president of a company, bringing his signature screen presence to the story.
Anupama Parameswaran and Kayadu Lohar take on the lead female roles in Dragon, with the director emphasizing that their characters play a crucial part in the storyline. “Just like the women in Oh My Kadavule had a significant purpose, the same holds true in this film,” Ashwath concludes.
