Police Temporarily Halt Suriya 45 Filming Due to Permission Issues

Actor and filmmaker RJ Balaji has teamed up with Suriya for an exciting new project, tentatively titled ‘Suriya 45’. Marking their first-ever collaboration, the film has already generated significant anticipation among fans. With expectations running high, production is in full swing, and key scenes are currently being filmed along Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR).

According to Thanthi TV, filming for the project faced unexpected disruptions in Velichai village, located along the Kelambakkam-Vandalur stretch of East Coast Road (ECR). Makeshift platforms had been set up for the shoot, but sudden road closures in the area raised concerns among local villagers, prompting them to alert the authorities. In response, the Kelambakkam police intervened and put a halt to the initial phase of filming, citing the absence of proper permissions.

Following the intervention, officials instructed the production team to obtain prior approval from the Tambaram Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s office before proceeding. Consequently, the setup work was put on hold. However, despite this temporary setback, filming remains on track and is progressing at a steady pace. The makers are now focused on ensuring a grand release for ‘Suriya 45’ in September.

‘Suriya 45’ features Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles, marking their highly anticipated reunion after nearly two decades. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam, and Supreeth Reddy. While AR Rahman was initially set to compose the music, the responsibility has now been taken over by Sai Abhyankkar.

With GK Vishnu handling cinematography and R Kalaivanan in charge of editing, the film’s production commenced in November 2024 in Pollachi, with Coimbatore serving as one of the primary shooting locations. Though the storyline remains under wraps, the film is expected to be an action-packed emotional drama centered around the protagonist’s journey.

Meanwhile, Suriya is set to return to the big screen with ‘Retro’, a gangster drama directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The highly anticipated film is scheduled for release on May 1.

With ‘Suriya 45’ steadily progressing despite minor setbacks and ‘Retro’ gearing up for its grand release, Suriya is set to have an exciting year ahead. Fans eagerly await his upcoming projects, which promise a blend of action, drama, and compelling storytelling. As anticipation builds, both films are expected to leave a lasting impact, further cementing Suriya’s position as one of Indian cinema’s most versatile and celebrated actors.
