Tuition Fee Assistance for B40 Indian Students in Selangor is Now Open for Applications

Many Malaysian Indian students are excelling in universities, showcasing their dedication and academic potential. To further encourage and support them, the government has introduced various assistance programs aimed at underprivileged Indian students. These initiatives ensure that financial constraints do not become a barrier to their pursuit of higher education, allowing them to achieve their academic and career aspirations.

In response to this issue, the Selangor government has opened applications for financial assistance specifically for B40 Indian students enrolled in public (IPTA) and private (IPTS) higher education institutions. This initiative aims to ease their financial burden and provide support to help them complete their studies.

Residents of Selangor, particularly the B40 Indian community with children enrolled in Bachelor’s or Diploma programs at IPTA/IPTS, are encouraged to apply for the Tuition Fee Assistance (IPTA/IPTS) for B40 Indian Students. Applications are open from March 3, 2025, to March 14, 2025.

This initiative, led by the Selangor State Government, aims to ease the financial burden of students and support them in completing their studies. The program is exclusively available to Malaysian citizens of Indian descent who were either born in Selangor or have lived in the state for at least 10 years. Applicants must be 25 years old or younger, with a household income not exceeding RM3,000 per month. Additionally, both the applicant and their parents or guardians must be permanent residents of Selangor.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma program at an IPTA/IPTS accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). However, students who are already receiving scholarships, sponsorships, or financial aid from other state or federal agencies are not eligible to apply. The assistance is only available to first-year Diploma students and first- and second-year Bachelor’s Degree students and will be provided as a one-time payment (one-off) per student. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will be automatically rejected.

The deadline for applications is March 14, 2025 (Friday) at 12:30 PM, and all submissions must be delivered by hand before the deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered, and no appeals will be accepted. Application forms can be obtained manually from the EXCO office, via email, or online by scanning the QR code provided.

This initiative reflects the Selangor government’s commitment to ensuring that financial difficulties do not hinder the academic aspirations of Malaysian Indian students. By providing much-needed financial assistance, the program empowers students to focus on their education and work towards a brighter future. Eligible students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their applications before the deadline to secure the support they need to complete their studies successfully.
