Malaysia’s top athletes are making waves in the international competitions, with squash star S.Sivasangari gearing up for the New Zealand Open while badminton player S.Kisona progresses in the Orleans Masters. The Malaysian audience are waiting to watch their triumph.
Sivasangari Targets Success in New Zealand Open
Fresh off her triumph at Cincinnati Gaynor Cup last month, the world No.7 Sivasangari is now eyeing for her next game, the New Zealand Open. The 26-year old Asian Champion, seeded fifth, ahs received a first round bye. She will meet either fellow Malaysian athe;ete Aira Azman (World No.28) or home favorite Joelle King of New Zealand in the second round. A potential quarter final clash against Egypt’s world No.9 Rowan Elaraby awaits her.

In the men’s event, Malaysia’s top ranked player, world No.12 Ng Eain Yow is seeded third and is also through to the second round with a bye. He is likely to face Qatar’s Abdulla Al-Tamimi in the quarter finals. The tournament’s top seed is defending champion Paul Coll of New Zealand.
National Chief Coach Ajaz Azmat expressed his confidence in both the athletes, stating that both Sivasangari and Eain Yow have high expectations for the tournament.
Kisona Marches On, Letshanaa Falls in Orleans Masters
Meanwhile, on the badminton side, world No.74 Kisona secured a dominant 21-12, 21-13 over Taiwan’s Huang Yu Hsun in the first qualifying round of the Orleans Master Game in France. She is set to face India’s H.Unnati in the next round.

However, K.Letshanaa endured a tough loss falling to Denmark’s Amalie Schulz with 17-21,21-18, 21-15. Letshanaa had previously defeated Amalie in the Indonesia Masters qualifying round in January, but the Danish player turned the tables this time.
