The much-anticipated sequel, Mookuthi Amman 2, officially commenced production today, March 6, with a pooja ceremony at Prasad Studios in Chennai. Ahead of the launch, producer Ishari K Ganesh visited a temple to seek blessings for the film’s success and later met with director Sundar C. The 2020 fantasy film Mookuthi Amman was directed by RJ Balaji, who also played a lead role alongside Nayanthara. For the highly anticipated sequel, the directorial responsibilities have now been taken over by veteran filmmaker Sundar C, promising a fresh vision for the next chapter of the story.

Nayanthara is set to return in her iconic role from Mookuthi Amman (2020) for the highly anticipated sequel. The film will be co-produced by Sundar C and Khushbu Sundar’s Avni Cinemax Pvt Ltd, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s Rowdy Pictures, and Ivy Entertainment.
Directed by RJ Balaji, the original Mookuthi Amman featured him alongside Nayanthara and Urvashi in lead roles. The film revolves around Engels Ramasamy, a struggling news anchor who lives with his mother, sisters, and grandfather.
