Malaysia’s national floorball team has made the country proud by securing a bronze medal at the Special Olympics Winter Games 2025 in Turin, Italy. The team achieved this milestone with a 5-2 victory over Saudi Arabia in the playoff for the men’s mixed unified category.
Among the standout players who contributed to Malaysia’s success were Thamillarasan Satiaselen, Sarvinraj Chanthiran, two talented athletes who showcased their skills, along with Pavitraa Puvaneswaran, Gursharan Kaur, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhamman Adam, Muhammad Harash, Safirul Mohd Sapri, and Saknarin Chua. Their outstanding performance highlighted Malaysia’s growing presence in International sports and the spirit of inclusivity in athletics.

Special Olympics Malaysia (SOM) president Bong Koi Sin expressed immense pride in the athletes’ hard work and perseverance.
“We are incredibly proud of our athletes for their hard work, and perseverance. This achievement is a testament to their commitment and the support of our coaches, family, and sponsors who believed in the power of inclusive sports”.
She also reaffirmed SOM’s commitment to developing more athletes and expanding inclusive sports opportunities across Malaysia.

Malaysia’s success at the Special Olympics Winter Games was widely celebrated. The Embassy of Malaysia in Rome, has also congratulated the team on their incredible achievement, acknowledging their efforts and dedication on the international stage.
Before the games, the Malaysian Floorball Association had also shown their support for the team, sending them well wishes.

The Special Olympics Winter Games, provides a global platform for athletes with the abilities to showcase their skills, promote inclusivity in sports, unity of diverse races and build friendships. Malaysia’s achievement in floorball is expected to inspire more athletes to engage in sports.
