Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empower the Indian community through strengthened socioeconomic initiatives, with a focus on education, employment, business financing, and support for places of worship.

In a Facebook post shared today in conjunction with the Tamil New Year (Chithirai), Vaisakhi, and Vishu celebrations, Datuk Anwar emphasize the importance of sustained efforts to uplift the community and close longstanding socioeconomic gaps.

“The government will continue to intensify initiatives to empower the Indian community through various programmes, including business financing. This is crucial in realising the goal of uplifting the Indian community in this country and at the same time, improving their socioeconomic status in the future,” he stated.

Acknowledging the crucial role of inclusive development, Datuk Anwar said the government will work to enhance all key areas effecting the Indian community, particularly in improving access to quality education, creating job opportunities, and ensuring equal support for religious and cultural needs.

The Prime Minister also extended festive greetings to the Tamil, Sikh, and Malayalee communities celebrating Chithirai, Vaisakhi, and Vishu respectively, expressing hope that the celebration brings joy, good health and blessings to all.

“We celebrate this diversity with pride, for it is the vibrant colours of Malaysia that make our country unique and strong. Let us continue to uphold the spirit of unity, that is our true strength,” he added.

The announcement comes as part of a broader push by the Unity Government to address ethnic imbalances and create a more equitable Malaysia. In recent months, increased attention has been placed on targeted support for minority community, including skills training, and education initiatives aimed at breaking the cycle of inequality and poverty.

With these renewed commitments, the government signals it’s intent to not only acknowledge the contributions of the Indian community, but to actively empower it’s future through policy, partnership, and purposeful action.
