Malaysia’s top women’s squash player, S. Sivasangari, put up a strong fight at the El Gouna International Squash Open 2025, showcasing her skills and determination. Although her impressive run came to an end in the Round of 16 with a hard-fought match against Egypt’s Salma Hany on Sunday, Sivasangari’s performance remains a clear reflection of her growing presence on the international stage.
World number 11 S. Sivasangari began the match on a high note, securing the first two games 11-9 and 11-4. However, she was unable to sustain her early momentum, eventually falling 7-11, 2-11, 8-11 in a closely contested 51-minute battle.

This result marked Sivasangari’s second loss in three encounters against world number 13 Salma Hany. She had earlier secured her spot in the second round with a commanding performance, swiftly defeating compatriot Aira Azman in just 17 minutes.
Despite the setback, S. Sivasangari continues to prove herself as a formidable force in the world of squash. Her strong performance in El Gouna, coupled with her steady climb in the global rankings, highlights her potential for greater achievements ahead. With continued focus and experience, she remains one of Malaysia’s brightest hopes on the international squash scene.
