Malaysia-China Youth TVET Programme Selects 500 Indian Students for Training in China

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has emerged as a valuable pathway for students who are passionate about acquiring practical skills and pursuing careers in machinery and technical fields. The long-standing stereotype that TVET is only for school dropouts is gradually fading, especially within the Indian community. More and more talented and genuinely interested students are now opting for TVET to further their education. This path not only offers in-depth theoretical knowledge but also provides essential hands-on training, equipping students with real-world experience that enhances their employability and career readiness.

In a significant initiative to empower TVET students, 5,000 individuals have been selected to undergo specialized training in China. Among them, 500 are Indian students. This opportunity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) and Belia Mahir, under the Malaysia-China Youth TVET Training Programme.

Yesterday, the first batch of 25 Indian students departed for China, marking the beginning of this exciting journey. Most of the selected students come from the field of mechatronics, reflecting the growing importance of advanced technical skills in today’s job market.

The selected students will undergo a two-week training program in China, where they will be exposed to advanced technologies and state-of-the-art machinery. In addition to mechatronics, the training will also cover areas such as 3D printing and programming, providing a comprehensive learning experience in various technical fields.

The selection process involved two stages. Initially, applications were submitted through a Google Form via the MITRA portal. Following this, a preliminary screening was conducted by MITRA. Shortlisted candidates were then invited for a physical interview conducted by Belia Mahir. Through this process, 500 Indian students were ultimately chosen to take part in this valuable opportunity.

YB Tuan Prabakaran, Chairman of the Special Committee of the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA), stated that the selected students will receive an allowance and fully sponsored flight tickets for the training program. The participants will undergo training in China and, upon completion, will be awarded certificates recognized by both China and Malaysia.

He emphasized that this opportunity will be highly beneficial for the students, as it not only enhances their skills but also provides a guaranteed pathway to employment. He encouraged more Indian students to take advantage of such initiatives to build a brighter and more secure future.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in uplifting and empowering Indian youth through quality technical education and international exposure. By bridging the gap between education and industry needs, programs like this not only break old stereotypes but also open doors to meaningful careers. It is hoped that this initiative will inspire more young talents to embrace technical education and seize such opportunities to shape a brighter, more prosperous future.
