A significant fire reportedly broke out on the sets of Idly Kadai, the upcoming directorial project of actor Dhanush, in Anupapatti village near Andipatti in Tamil Nadu’s Theni district. Fortunately, no one was injured, as filming had been temporarily suspended at the time of the incident.
The detailed set — designed to resemble a street lined with shops and houses — had been built specifically for the film and was left untouched after production moved to a different location a few days earlier. With plans underway to resume filming soon, the outbreak of the fire was particularly concerning.
The fire, reportedly intensified by strong winds, rapidly swept through the set due to the highly flammable materials used in its construction. Local residents spotted the blaze and promptly notified the Andipatti Fire Department. Firefighters, assisted by local police, quickly responded and worked for over an hour to bring the flames under control. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Andipatti police.

Idly Kadai marks Dhanush’s fourth venture as a director, following Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. The film features Nithya Menen in the lead female role and includes seasoned actors Arun Vijay, Rajkiran, and Samuthirakani in prominent roles.
Although much of the storyline and complete cast list remain undisclosed, an earlier poster shared by Dhanush offers a glimpse into his character — he appears to portray the owner of a modest eatery called Sivanesan Idly Kadai.
Idly Kadai marks yet another collaboration between Dhanush and music composer GV Prakash Kumar, following their recent work together on Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, Vaathi, and Captain Miller. The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor Prasanna GK, and production designer Jacki.
The project is being co-produced by Dawn Pictures, Red Giant Movies, and Wunderbar Films. Aakash Baskaran and Dhanush are producing the film, with Sreyas Srinivasan serving as the executive producer. Idly Kadai is scheduled for a theatrical release in October.
