National women’s single shuttler K. Letshanaa is set to make her second appearance at the Sudirman Cup 2025, with confidence and determination to play a bigger role in Malaysia’s mixed team campaign. The 21 year old, currently ranked world No.52, made her Sudirman Cup debut in 2023 in Suzhou, China. This time, she returns to Xiamen, China. Where the tournament will take place from 27th April-4th May, with a stronger bond with her teammates and a stronger confidence.

Letshanaa has attributed her improved mindset to the familiarity and chemistry built within the national squad over the past two years. Having spent considerable time training and competing with her fellow players, she believes the team spirit will be a major advantage in high pressure moments. During her debut in Suzhou, Letshanaa won her group match against Australia’s Tiffany Ho in straight sets (21-19, 21-12), before falling to world No.1 An Se Young of South Korea in the semi-finals (10-21, 13-21). Despite the defeat, the experience has helped her grow as a player.

With Malaysia’s top women’s single player Goh Jin Wei also in the squad, Letshanaa remains grounded but hopeful. She said she will be ready to step up if given the chance, and she sees every opportunity to represent Malaysia as a motivation to push her limits.

“I think the main thing is to be motivated, not to be nervous or scared. As long as I give my vest, I think it’s a good thing for Malaysia and the team”, said Letshanaa.

Letshanaa has been participating in the centralised training camp for the Sudirman Cup, where every team is sharpening their skills, and strategies ahead of group stage matches.
