Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting Malaysian Artists

Legendary Malaysian artist Datuk M. Nasir recently paid a visit to Prime Minister Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim at his office in Putrajaya. The 67-year-old, whose real name is Mohd Nasir Mohamed, is widely celebrated for his thought-provoking and spiritually inspired works, and is considered a key figure in shaping Malaysia’s music and creative arts landscape. Besides his accomplishments as a singer and composer, he is also well-regarded for his work as an actor, lyricist, and art director.

During their meeting, the two engaged in discussions about the current state and future direction of the Malaysian arts and entertainment industry. In a social media post reflecting on the meeting, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirmed the Madani government’s continued commitment to supporting local artistes in creating high-quality, exceptional works. The Prime Minister noted that this pledge was one of the key topics discussed during their conversation.

In his post, he shared that he had welcomed a visit from acclaimed artist Datuk M. Nasir in Putrajaya, where they engaged in discussions about the creative industry as well as the local arts and cultural landscape.

Government support for Malaysian artists plays a crucial role in advancing the country’s entertainment industry. Such backing would greatly benefit many passionate local talents, including those from the Indian community, who are dedicated to producing their best work and enriching the nation’s cultural landscape.
