Tamil schools across the country have been making impressive strides not only in academics but also in areas such as sports, technology, and innovation. Adding to this growing list of achievements, SJK(T) Klebang has recently accomplished something noteworthy and unique, further highlighting the potential and progress of Tamil education in Malaysia.
Continuing its journey of excellence beyond academics, SJK(T) Klebang in Perak has now ventured into the field of music by forming its very own pancaragam band—a type of marching or brass band that combines wind, brass, and percussion instruments to perform coordinated musical pieces. This marks the school’s first significant step towards nurturing musical talent among its students, providing them with a platform to explore rhythm, harmony, and teamwork through structured musical performance.
Krishnasamy Muthusamy, Chairman of the Board of Governors at SJK(T) Klebang, shared that the musical instruments for the band were purchased with a financial contribution of RM40,000, generously provided by the Member of Parliament for Tambun, Perak—Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He expressed his pleasure, noting that this achievement has made the school the first Tamil school in the state of Perak to establish its own Pancaragam musical band—a milestone they take great pride in.

Yesterday, the official launch ceremony of the new musical band took place during SJK(T) Klebang’s 71st annual Sports Day. The band, which includes 45 students, performed a special presentation with their instruments before the sports events commenced. The students’ rendition of the national anthem, accompanied by musical instruments, captivated the audience and earned widespread acclaim.
In addition to the formation of the musical band, SJK(T) Klebang actively offers a variety of other extracurricular activities to enrich students’ development. These include traditional arts such as Silambam, a classical martial art form, and Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance. By providing these diverse programs, the school aims to nurture students’ talents and preserve cultural heritage while promoting holistic growth.
With the instrumental support of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, SJK(T) Klebang continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom. By embracing both cultural traditions and modern artistic expressions, the school not only cultivates the talents and passions of its students but also strengthens the sense of community and cultural identity. This progressive approach sets a shining example for Tamil schools nationwide, highlighting the power of education to inspire, unite, and empower the next generation.
