Flights operated by Malaysian airlines to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, are running as scheduled, as operations at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport have resumed following a brief suspension. The airport is fully functional after a temporary closure prompted by the tragic crash of an Air India flight shortly after takeoff.
At present, AirAsia Malaysia runs five flights per week from Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines offers eight direct flights weekly on the same route.
In a recent update on X, Ahmedabad Airport announced that all flight operations have resumed as normal. Among the passengers were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals.
Malaysia Airlines expressed its heartfelt condolences to those affected by the tragic Air India accident, sharing its message on the X platform.
“Our thoughts are with the passengers, crew, and their families during this difficult time. We stand in solidarity with Air India and everyone impacted by this tragedy,” the airline stated.
Batik Air Malaysia also extended its sympathies to those affected by the crash.
“We offer our deepest condolences to all impacted by the Air India incident. Though we operate under different names in the skies, moments like these unite us as one aviation family. Our thoughts are with the passengers, crew, and their loved ones,” the airline said.
Despite the tragic incident involving Air India, flight operations between Malaysia and Ahmedabad remain unaffected, with all Malaysian carriers continuing their scheduled services. The prompt reopening of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has ensured minimal disruption to international travel. As investigations into the crash proceed, the aviation community including Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and Batik Air Malaysia has come together in a show of solidarity and support for those impacted.
