As of May 1 this year, the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN Nasional) has provided RM23 million in financing to support 879 Indian entrepreneurs nationwide. This initiative reflects the agency’s ongoing commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and empowering communities through accessible financial support.

The senior private secretary to the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Anbumani Balan, stated that the government allocated the funds under the SPUMI (Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme) Goes Big financing programme, benefiting 137 recipients. Additionally, another 742 Indian entrepreneurs received financial assistance through the TEKUN SPUMI scheme.

He added that, alongside TEKUN financing, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) has introduced several initiatives this year to enhance the economic progress of the Indian community.

“As such, it is important for the Indian community to fully utilise the opportunities provided by the government, as their economic empowerment is vital. KUSKOP remains dedicated to supporting Indian entrepreneurs by offering a range of financing options to help them expand and strengthen their businesses,” he said.

He made these remarks on behalf of Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Dato’ Seri R. Ramanan, during the Vanakam MADANI engagement session with Indian entrepreneurs in Perak.

Datuk Anbumani noted that the entrepreneurs are engaged in a variety of businesses, including saree sales, transportation services, restaurants, retail shops, and online enterprises, among others.

The continued financial support and targeted initiatives by TEKUN Nasional and KUSKOP underscore the government’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship within the Indian community. By providing accessible funding and development platforms, these efforts aim to empower entrepreneurs across diverse sectors, fostering sustainable economic growth and inclusion. As highlighted during the Vanakam MADANI engagement session, Indian entrepreneurs are encouraged to seize these opportunities to grow their businesses and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic landscape.
