In a move that promises to modernise and streamline public transformation access, Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that the popular My50 unlimited travel pass will go fully digital starting 1st July 2025, allowing all users to renew and activate the pass via the Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet app.
This digital transition marks a significant step in Malaysia’s larger agenda to promote cashless convenience and improve urban mobility. Over 250,000 existing users are expected to benefit from this enhancement, which is set to reduce congestion at Rapid KL counters and elevate the overall commuter experience.
A Seamless 7-Step Process for Pass Activation
With this rollout, Malaysians can now purchase and activate the my50 pass without visiting any physical counter, provided they have an NFC-enabled smartphone and a TNG card.

Here’s how it works:
- Download the TNG eWallet app on your phone
- Register and complete the eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) identity verification
- Navigate to the Travel Pass section in the app
- Tap your TNG card on your phone to link it
- Select My50 and set your preferred start date
- Pay through the app and agree to terms
- Tap your card again to activate, and start riding the public transport
Once activated, users will enjoy 30 days of unlimited travel across the MRT, LRT, BRT, Monorail, and Rapid KL Buses, including MRT feeder buses.
Reducing Wait Times and Elevating Convenience
According to Minister Anthony Loke, this initiate is expected to ease heavy queues at high-traffic stations like KL Sentral, Pasar Seni and KLCC, where renewals could take 45 minutes or more per person.
The eWallet integration also introduces a monthly travel summary, letting users track tap-in-and tap-out locations, daily routines, and destination histories, enhancing transparency and user engagement.
Addressing Accessibility and Data Safety
While the digital My50 is aimed at tech-savvy commuters, physical renewals using MyKad at Rapid KL counters will still be available, especially for senior citizens or those without smartphones.
The systems uses facial recognition, IC validation, and identity verification under eKYC protocols. While most users will complete this within a day, verification for Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) may take up to a week due to additional checks.

Minister Loke assured that all user data is protected under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and is used only in aggregate form for passenger analytics. Data is not directly shared with Prasarana, ensuring privacy remains intact.
With Visit Malaysia Year 2026 on the horizon, the full digitalisation of My50 reflects a government-wide commitment to innovation, ease of access, and sustainable public transport adoption.
