Police have obtained a seven-day remand order for three individuals, two women and a man, detained in connection with the recent murder of a 20-year-old student from University of Cyberjaya. The remand, which takes effect today and runs until July 3, was approved after the suspects were presented before the Sessions Court earlier this morning.
According to the New Straits Times, Sessions Court Judge Azaraorani Abdul Rahman granted the remand order to facilitate the ongoing investigation into the murder case. The three suspects, aged between 19 and 20, were brought to court under police escort and arrived in handcuffs at approximately 8:30 a.m.
Earlier, Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman stated that the suspects, all aged between 19 and 20, were arrested in separate operations carried out in Johor Bahru and Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan between yesterday and earlier today. The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to the offence of murder.

Police revealed yesterday that the victim, identified as Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara, was discovered unconscious by a friend at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday. She was pronounced dead shortly after police arrived at the scene.
The victim, a Bachelor of Physiotherapy student at the University of Cyberjaya, was originally from Kuching. Assistant Commissioner Norhizam noted that while there were no signs of forced entry or sexual assault, the victim had sustained head injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Police also reported that several of the victim’s personal items were missing, including her laptop, mobile phone, ATM card, and a sum of cash.
