As the government continues to take concrete steps to address the needs of Tamil and Chinese schools across the country, Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh has reaffirmed the administration’s commitment, assuring that mother tongue education will never be sidelined.
He made the statement to reporters following his visit to SJKT Ladang Dovenby in Sungai Siput, Perak. He also highlighted that two new schools have recently been built in the Sungai Siput parliamentary constituency.

The National Land Finance Cooperative Society has allocated land funds to SJKT Ladang Dovenby. Additionally, Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh presented a mock cheque for RM50,000 to the school management of SJKT Ladang Dovenby as part of the government’s support for its development.
During his visit, he toured the school grounds alongside the headmistress of the school and members of the management team to assess the overall condition of the facilities. He also visited several classrooms, where he took the time to interact warmly with students, engaging them in conversation and showing genuine interest in their learning environment.
The headmistress of the school, Rajammal Veerasamy, stated that with an enrolment of 110 students, the school is currently facing a significant space constraint. She brought this issue to the attention of the Deputy Minister during his visit, emphasizing the urgent need for either a new school building or the construction of additional classrooms.

SJKT Ladang Dovenby shared a Facebook post expressing their gratitude for the Deputy Minister’s visit, stating that they were honoured and delighted by his presence. The school also shared several photos taken during the visit, capturing memorable moments with the students, staff, and the minister.
The contribution presented by Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh will significantly support the development of SJKT Ladang Dovenby. The funds are expected to be used for improving the school’s infrastructure, enhancing classroom facilities, and creating a more conducive learning environment for the students. This financial aid comes at a crucial time, especially as the school faces space constraints, and will help address some of the immediate needs to ensure better educational outcomes for its growing student population.
