The remand for three individuals arrested in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old university student in Cyberjaya has been extended until July 10. Sepang police chief Norhizam Bahaman said that magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani approved a seven-day extension to the original remand order.
In a statement, Norhizam said the Sepang Magistrates’ Court had approved a seven-day remand extension, which will be in effect from April 4 to April 10.
The initial remand order, issued by Sessions Court Judge Azaraorani Abdul Rahman on June 27, expired today. The three suspects — a man and two women, aged between 19 and 20 — were arrested by police in separate operations conducted between 9am on June 26 and 2am on June 27, in Johor Bahru, Johor, and Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan.
Norhizam had earlier stated that all three suspects were acquainted with the victim, Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara, a student at the University of Cyberjaya. She was discovered dead in her condominium unit by a friend around 10am on June 24.

Maniishapriet had been sharing the room with five other students, but it was reported that her housemates had left for their hometowns for the holidays on June 21.
The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. Police confirmed there were no indications of forced entry into the residence, and no injuries suggesting sexual assault were found.
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan stated yesterday that the primary suspect in the case had entered the apartment using a key and access card given to him by his girlfriend, who had already left for her hometown. He added that the suspect took advantage of the fact that the victim was alone in the apartment as she was waiting to sit for her final exam.
After allegedly attacking and killing the victim, the unemployed suspect is believed to have robbed her, taking her mobile phone, laptop, and ATM card, which he later used to withdraw RM200.
Police also detained a fourth suspect — a man who was acquainted with the victim but resided in a separate apartment block. He is currently being held on remand as well.
