The government has set aside RM8.4 million to provide Jalur Gemilang badges to 5.14 million students in schools, Matriculation Colleges, Form Six Colleges, and teacher training institutes (IPG).
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said each student receives two badges free of charge as part of efforts to instill patriotism and love for the country from an early age. The allocation was distributed to state education departments and relevant institutions in February, with quantities based on student enrolment.
Procurement is handled by state education departments, district education offices, and institutions via the eProcurement system through tenders or quotations. To speed up supply and involve more qualified suppliers, procurement was also conducted by zones, engaging 91 suppliers nationwide.

Education Minister, Fadhlina in a written parliamentary reply said the ministry has issued guidelines for wearing that badge but allows parents to provide additional badges of the same size and made from suitable materials.
The initiative is part of a national programme requiring all public school students to wear the 5CM x 2.5CM badge on the right side of their chest starting 21st April, following a circular issued on 24th March by Education Director General Azman Adnan. The ministry will continue monitoring its implementation to ensure safety and uniform quality.
