On the eve of the release of Coolie, Kamal Haasan took to social media to celebrate Rajinikanth’s remarkable milestone of completing 50 years in the film industry. Rajinikanth, who first appeared on screen in 1975 in K. Balachander’s Apoorva Raagangal — a film that also featured Kamal Haasan — has since become one of cinema’s most iconic figures.
Posting on X, Kamal Haasan wrote, “Today marks 50 remarkable years of my dear friend Rajinikanth’s journey in cinema. I honour our Superstar with deep affection and admiration, and wish Coolie a roaring global success worthy of this golden jubilee.”
Kamal Haasan also expressed his support for the entire Coolie team, which includes Lokesh Kanagaraj — who previously directed him in Vikram (2022). He praised the film’s creative forces, describing it as being “helmed by the dynamic Lokesh Kanagaraj, supported by the stalwart of the industry Kalanithi Maran, enriched by the ever-innovative Anirudh, and brought to life by long-time friends Sathyaraj, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir.” He concluded with a warm note to his daughter, Shruti Haasan, encouraging her to “keep shining bright.”

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have shared the screen in several memorable films, including Moondru Mudichu, 16 Vayadhinile, Allauddinum Albutha Vilakkum, Ilamai Oonjal Aadukiradhu, Aval Appadithan, Avargal, and Ninaithale Inikkum. They also joined forces with Amitabh Bachchan in Geraftaar. Their last collaboration was in K. Balachander’s Thillu Mullu.
Coolie finally arrives in cinemas today, with Malik Streams distributing the film in Malaysia. The First Day First Show screenings have kicked off in grand style, marked by massive celebrations, setting the stage for what promises to be a memorable cinematic event.
