Tamil cinema’s latest blockbuster, Coolie, has stormed the North American box office, grossing an impressive $3.04 million on its opening day, according to procedure Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures. The milestone cements Coolie as the highest-grossing Tamil film in North America for premiere day collections.
Announcing the achievement, Sun Pictures quoted for ‘Powerhouse’ song from the film, ‘Thalaivan Erangi, Saritham Eluthavey’, in celebration of the Superstar’s record-breaking feat.

The buzz for Coolie was evident long before release, with massive advance bookings propelling it to become the fastest Tamil film to cross the $3 million mark in the USA. Report suggest the film amassed over 100 crore in worldwide advance ticket sales, ranking it among the largest pre-release grosses in Indian cinema history.
While director Lokesh Kanagraj is famed for his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), he clarified that Coolie is a standalone film and not connected to his previous works. The project also marks a reunion between Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj, nearly four decades after their 1986 classic Mr Bharath. The ensemble cast features Nagarjuna, Upedra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and special appearances by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde.
With box office momentum on its side and global fan excitement still surging. Coolie is poised to set even bigger records in the days ahead, both in Tamil cinema and Indian film history.
