Malaysia Airlines has announced changes to its flight schedules from August 26 to 31, 2025, as a result of a temporary airspace closure around Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The adjustment comes in line with preparations for Malaysia’s 68th Merdeka Day celebrations, which will see heightened activities in the skies and on the ground.
The airspace will be restricted daily from 8 am to 12pm throughout the six-day period. In a statement on its official website, Malaysia Airlines confirmed that the adjusted schedule applies to flights both departing from and arriving at KLIA.
The airline advised passengers departing from KLIA to arrive at least four hours before their revised departure time to allow sufficient time for check-in procedures and mandatory document checks at different touchpoints.

Malaysia Airlines has provided a list of affected flights by date but has not disclosed the total number of services impacted. The airline also reminded travelers to carry all necessary travel documents and to check official sources for entry and exit requirements before their journey.
In light of these changes, Malaysia Airlines encourages passengers to stay updated on their flight details through the airline’s official channels and to plan their travel accordingly. With the temporary airspace restrictions in place for the Merdeka Day celebrations, early preparation and adherence to guidelines will help ensure a smooth travel experience.
