Nearly a decade after the success of Pichaikkaran (2016), actor-composer Vijay Antony and director Sasi are reuniting for a new film titled ‘Nooru Saami’. The film, announced earlier this year, and now confirmed in a recent interview with IANS, will center around the timeless emotional bond between a mother and her son.
Director Sasi clarified that while the title of the film is inspired by the popular Pichaikkaran song of Vijay Antony, ‘Nooru Saami’, the story line will not continue from where Pichaikkaran left off. This film is entirely a fresh narrative.
Backed by Fatima Vijay Antony and Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner, ‘Nooru Saami’ promises to carry forward the duo’s reputation for blending emotional depth with commercial appeal. The project was first revealed by Sasi during the audio launch of Maargan, where he reflected on his long-standing association with Vijay Antony.

“In 2006, when I made Dishyum, Vijay Antony was the music director. In 2016, he played the lead in Pichaikkaran. Now, now we are going to work together again.” he said.
The film boasts a strong cast, with Swasika, Lijomol Jose, and Vijay Antony’s nephew Ajay Dhishan taking on key roles. Popular TV actor Sakthi and Kavya Anil will also feature in the significant parts. As on the technical front, Balaji Sriram will be composing the music.
Slated for a theatrical release on 1st May 2026, Nooru Saami carries high expectations given the past successful works of Vijay Antony and Sasi. Pichaikkaran, remembered for its raw portrayal of sacrifice and maternal love, was both a critical and commercial hit, later inspiring multiple remakes in different languages. Its standalone sequel, Pichaikkaran 2, was also directed, produced and headlined by Vijay Antony himself in 2023.
With Nooru Saami, the duo is set to revisit themes of maternal sentiment once again, a narrative space that resonated deeply with audiences during their last collaboration.
