AirAsia has announced the launch of it’s first direct international service connecting Kuala Lumpur to Banjarmasin, the largest city in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Beginning 20th October 2025, this new route marks a significant milestone as AirAsia becomes the first international airline to operate flights into the ‘City of a Thousand Rivers’.

The Kuala Lumpur-Banjarmasin route enhances AirAsia’s extensive network between Malaysia and Indonesia, bringing the total to 229 weekly flights across 18 Indonesian destination. This expansion not only supports Indonesia’s Wonderful Indonesia 2025 campaign but also aligns with South Kalimantan’s provincial economic development plans to boost trade, tourism, and investment.

Travellers can look forward to easier access to South Kalimantan’s rich culture, natural wonders, and growing economic opportunities. The new service is also expected to extend visitor stays and strengthen bilateral ties, as Malaysia remains as a top source market for Indonesia’s target of 16 million international arrivals in 2025.

Flight Schedule: Kuala Lumpur (KUL)- Banjarmasin (BDJ)

  • AK442: Departs Kuala Lumpur (7:15)- Arrives Banjarmasin (9:50) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
  • AK 441: Departs Banjarmasin (10:15)- Arrives Kuala Lumpur (13:05) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)

Bookings are available until 28th September 2025, for travel between 20th October 2025 and 28th March 2026, exclusively on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com.

With this addition, AirAsia continues to cement its role as the low-cost carrier with the widest international network in Indonesia, providing affordable and convenient options for both business and leisure travellers.
