The Association of Science, Technology and Innovation (ASTI) is organising the 19th annual Science Fair for Young Children (SFYC), dedicated to Malaysian Tamil primary school students. This initiative aims to nurture scientific thinking, while enhancing innovation and creativity skills among young learners.
The competition, featuring student-led research projects and practical scientific assessments, will be held on 27 and 28 September at the Imbi Convention Hall.

On the first day (27 September), students will undergo hands-on practical tests designed to evaluate their scientific abilities, with all assessments completed on the same day. On the second day (28 September), their innovative projects and discoveries will be showcased to the public.
Event director Mr. Subash Krishnan announced that medals and prizes will be awarded to the top ten winners. Prize distribution will be as follows:
4 schools will receive bronze medals plus RM 700 each
3 schools will receive silver medals plus RM 1,000 each
2 schools will receive gold medals plus RM 1,500 each
1 school will receive the platinum award plus RM 2,500
In addition, all participating schools will be honoured with trophies, medals, and certificates.

ASTI chairman Dr. Muhamad Yunus Yasin emphasized that one of the key objectives of this programme is to highlight the creative talents of Tamil school students on a global stage. He stressed that both Tamil school teachers and students are highly capable, and this science fair serves as a platform to showcase their potential.
Every year, more than 20,000 students nationwide participate in the competition. For 2025, a total of 396 Tamil primary schools have registered, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for this initiative.
