The Malaysia-China Youth TVET Training Programme (MCYTT), supported by the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA), has selected 19 Malaysian Indian students for its latest cohort. The initiative aims to enhance collaboration in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) between youths from Malaysia and China.
Led by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the programme offers students firsthand exposure to China’s rapidly advancing technological landscape. According to Belia Mahir representative Dinesh Dharmalingam, MCYTT is designed to give Malaysian university and college students the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies while also experiencing China’s culture and language.

During the 12-day training at Zhejiang Traffic Technician College, participants received hands-on lessons in mechatronics, electronics, and robotics. They were also trained to operate, maintain, and manage unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), which Dinesh described as one of the programme’s key highlights.
Dinesh added that since its launch in 2023, the programme has sought to offer opportunities to around 500 Indian students annually, with ongoing efforts to expand participation in the coming years.
